Shaun Stevens | EPS Water

Shaun is a past Chair of the British Water UK Forum, and more recently led the British Water Supply Chain Task Force initiative. Having graduated as an Environmental Engineer, he has gained over 25 years’ experience working in the water industry in the UK and Ireland within the contracting and consultancy sectors. Shaun is currently General Manager of EPS Water, a provider of water and wastewater treatment products and services, and focuses on growth strategy, business development, supplier relationships and continuous improvement initiatives. He is an Advisory Board Member for UK Water Week and a Champion for regional development agency Business South.

Toby Harding | WSP

Toby has spent over three decades in the water industry, covering all aspects of design, construction, commissioning and operation with contractors, more recently moving into consultancy. Working with most of the UK water companies on infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects and programmes, he has formed a deep engagement with water sector strategy and continues to develop his interest in the delivery of environment-enhancing solutions to the many challenges that our industry and society as a whole are facing. Toby’s role as a Client Director in WSP requires a deep understanding of the regulated water industry – how it functions, where the challenges are and what is changing – so that the needs of all parts of the industry can be met.

James Higgins | Market Operator Services Limited (MOSL)

James is Corporate Affairs Manager at MOSL leading the non-household water market operator’s engagement with external stakeholders and interactions with government and regulatory policy including around the PR24 price review and water efficiency. James joined MOSL in 2021 having spent a decade working in the gas sector in a similar role.

Helene Hewitt | Costain

Helene is the Head of Business Development within the Water Sector at Costain Group PLC, a UK Tier 1 solutions provider, and has gained 15 years’ experience in the contracting industry covering water, energy and transportation. Her current role involves creating strategies and solutions to meet water company needs, engaging extensively in the market and forming large multi-disciplinary engineering teams to develop transformational approaches to major programmes/projects. Most recently, Helene led the development of Costain’s AMP8 strategy focused on building collaborative delivery models and teams from across the supply chain, securing contracts valued at over £2 billion across the next regulatory periods. Her current focus is on providing a differentiated service to support new regional water resource solutions as the schemes progress from early feasibility to competitive procurement and construction.

Charlotte Watson | Anglian Water

Charlotte is a communications and engagement professional with a degree in Business Management and extensive experience across public, private and not-for-profit sectors. She spent 5 years at a local Chamber of Commerce, advocating for small and medium sized enterprises through various lobbying and support activities. Currently, Charlotte brings her expertise to the water industry working across Research and Innovation and Commercial Procurement, where she has been driving engagement strategies for the past 18 months. Her career reflects a strong commitment to fostering impactful relationships and supporting organisational growth across diverse industries.

Sal Watson | Mott MacDonald

Sally is the Development Manager for our Water Utilities business which supports our clients to deliver against their strategic commitments. Mott MacDonald's work in Water is at the forefront of ensuring safe water supplies for future generations and protecting our environment. Our multi-disciplinary teams deliver throughout the full project life cycle, from advisory services and feasibility studies, through outline and detailed design, to construction support and site supervision. Sally also has a strategic role leading on Technical Excellence, Innovation and Digital for our 1000+ people in our UK Water, Environment and Consents business. Prior to this she was the Global Lead for Mott MacDonald’s Water Resources Practice. Mott MacDonald has supported the development of Spring, the UK water sector innovation accelerator, and Sally is a member of the strategic advisory panel. She has recently joined the Board of British Water as a non-Executive Director.

Sally has a diverse background with over 30 years’ experience across consultancy, academia and the water industry covering groundwater and water resources, including groundwater modelling, company and regional water resources planning and the impacts of climate change. She has a particular interest in collaborative approaches to water planning, bringing in multi-sector interests and adopting a systems approach to consider wider benefits.
