Oliver Grievson | CHAIR OF IWA'S DIGITAL WATER PROGRAMMEOliver is a highly experienced water industry professional with particular skills in both process engineering and instrumentation. He started his career in the laboratory after finishing his bachelors degree in London. After this he went into water & wastewater operations in the Falkland Islands managing the entire gamut of water operations from water resources, production and distribution through to wastewater collection and treatment. Following this he came back to the UK and studied for a Masters Degree and went into process engineering working first for Grontmij (now SWECO) and the Yorkshire Water. He then moved to Anglian Water where he led the wastewater regulated flow programme and flow compliance and latterly the instrumentation asset base. More recently he joined Z-Tech Control Systems to concentrate on both instrumentation and the smart water industry.

A complex problem solver with commercial focus and a partnering approach with both public sector and private clients. She has an extensive background in business development and, more recently, digital technology specialising in Smart Networks, NB-IoT, demand management and end use analytics. Experience in Australian, Asian and European markets and supports Jacobs colleagues in these geographies providing solutions for clients and bringing together collaborative multi-disciplinary teams.
Tracy BrittonBritish Water Data & Analytics Focus Group Chair Karen Alford | Flood and Coastal Risk Manager - Digital Data and InformationKaren leads the Environment Agency’s Asset Management digital transformation within the asset management directorate across the whole asset lifecycle. The Environment Agency is one of the leading departments within Government to integrate data management into project delivery and using the capability as a foundation for shaping a digital data and technology approach within the asset management business. Karen has been instrumental in driving forward improvements to the availability and access of data internally and externally as well as recognising how a data centric approach is key to transforming asset management delivery. Karen is involved in a number of cross industry groups including the Public Sector Information Group, Government’s Smart Infrastructure Working Group and the Digital Transformation Task Group, part of the ICE Client Group. She is also a steering member of the Cambridge Centre Smart Infrastructure and Construction and BIM4 Water and a committee member for ISO19650 and ISO55000 standards.

Heather currently leads Yorkshire Water's wastewater operational control room, work management and technical support teams. Heather is a Civil Engineer with 20 years' experience in the Water Industry, she has held a variety of roles both in the public and private sector. She has a diverse range of experience in Operations, Asset Management and Engineering Design with a background in alternative resouces and integrated water management.

James BallardInnovation Architect Sarah Felany - BTech (Hons); CEng; MCIBSE |HEAD OF ClassificationAs Head of Classification at NBS, Sarah has nearly 45 years of construction industry experience as a building services engineer. For the past few years, she has been responsible for, and continues to manage, the development of the construction industry classification system, Uniclass 2015. She took on this role following the appointment of NBS to prepare a digital plan of works and classification system for the BIM task group, as part of the UK government’s BIM Level 2 tools.
Sarah DelanyHead of Classification George Schley | Enterprise ArchitectGeorge is part of the Data and Enterprise Architecture team at Jacobs. He is currently the Enterprise Architect on the Safe Smart Systems project working with Anglian Water and a number of water company and commercial partners to deliver the next generation of Water Systems using AI and automated control. His passion is ensuring that the dots across people, process, technology and data are connected and optimised to deliver for partners and customers. George's experience covers the end-to-end digital transformation lifecycle and has developed across the consulting, public sector and water industry over the last 25 years.

With over 20 years’ experience in the utilities sector, Mark's experience ranges from client organisations, having worked at United Utilities for 10 years in a range of roles; in consultancy, working with customers in the energy and water markets in the UK, Europe and Asia; to front-line operations in his current role. With a track record of building dynamic brands and award-winning teams, his specialist areas include Digital Asset Management, Investment Planning, business change, market reform and regulation, strategic advice, and business planning. Mark is a firm believer that digital adoption is crucial to the success of the water and wider utility industries, and he will always prioritise digital adoption and a technology-led approach in a company’s methods of operation.

He has been solving problems across all areas of the industry through the application of simple techniques in innovative ways. Currently Edward is leading the development of the digital twin capability for Thames Water, and is embarking on a project to make the capability and models easy to share across all water companies.
Edward ParryData Scientist ANNA BOWSKILL | DATA ANALYSTAnna is a Business Analyst who works with Domain and Digital experts to catalyse the digital transformation journeys of leading infrastructure organisations. With a keen eye for detail, Anna is particularly adept at providing organisations with an ‘outside-in’ view of their digital maturity, taking a data-driven approach and researching best practice among their peers and the wider industry. She has demonstrable experience helping clients identify their digital capability gaps and develop their organisation’s digital operating models. Her background in economics causes her to take an analytical, thorough approach to her research and identify the key trends across a dataset to build the bigger picture. Anna is particularly passionate about how data and innovation can be harnessed within the infrastructure industry to deliver more value to end-users and, ultimately, more positive social outcomes across society.
Anna BowskillData Analyst Gigi Karmous-Edwards | Founder and Co-ChairGigi Karmous-Edwards has spent the majority of her 25+ career on state-of-the-art digital technologies, including IoT, big data, data analytics, control and automation, and most recently Digital Twin technolgy for the water sector. She is the founder and co-chair of the SWAN Digital Twin H2O Work Group to help advance the use of much-needed holistic utility management using digital twins. She collaborated with SWAN and Julius Education on the development of an online introductory course "Demystifying Digital Twins". As CEO of Karmous-Edwards Consulting, she consults for global utilities, technology companies, and smart cities on the development of digital twin technologies and digital transformation, including NEOM, City of Houston, NYCDEP, Idrica, Olea Edge, Innovyze, etc. She is a TAG member for BlueTech Research. She has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
Gigi Karmous-EdwardsFounder and Co-Chair Holger Kessler | NUAR Stakeholder and Communications LeadHolger Kessler has 20+ years experience in developing scientific, technical, operational and policy solutions to geoscientific issues at local, regional and national scales. His broad knowledge of the geoscience sector has been generated by listening to real world requirements of schools, universities, town and county halls, contractors, consultants, asset owners, utility companies, international partners, regulators and government. Holger focuses his energy on making geoscience data, information and knowledge available and accessible to improve planning and decision making particularly in the environmental, water resource, engineering and infrastructure sectors. He is currently on secondment to the Geospatial Commission at the Cabinet Office where he leads on stakeholder engagement and communications for the National Underground Asset Register Programme. His passion is also to inspire future geoscientists to create the workforce we need to tackle the environmental challenges that lie ahead.

Justine LeadbetterSenior Consultant - Leakage & Water Resources Peter Henley | Senior ConsultantPeter is currently a Senior Consultant at WRc and heads up its Pollution and Flooding team which specialise in wastewater and stormwater networks. He has been in the wastewater industry for over 30 years starting out a contractor, and then for Wessex Water to manage the Private Sewers transfer before joining WRc in 2009. He has an extensive background in short term flow surveys, pipeline condition assessment and sewer rehabilitation. He is currently working on projects aimed at reducing the number of sewer blockages and reducing the impact of Fats Oils and Grease in our sewer network.

Mariana has significant experience in all process areas of the water industry, including water, wastewater, and sludge treatment and during her career has had the opportunity to work in different sectors of the industry including the water utilities, consultancy services and construction, giving her a holistic understanding of the needs and issues facing the sector. Currently Dr Mariana Gonzalez is Head of process solutions at Galliford Try.
Mariana GonzalezHead of Process Solutions Tom Williams |British Water International Forum ChairTom is a Chemical Engineer and Biotechnologist who has spent most of his +25yrs water industry career focused on water quality with Enebio Ltd and Orica Watercare, as well as establishing a global presence for various SME products. He has spent most of the last decade working on drinking water systems all across the United States where he has been an active part of the Partnership for Safe Water. Through a long association with British Water, Tom has led the Real Time Monitoring Group, Extractive Industries Group and has been an International Business Mentor for the USA for more than a decade. In the past Tom led British Water visits to China and reported back to All Party Parliamentary Groups. Tom is also the Vice Chair of the UK IWA Committee. When he is not working, you will find Tom restoring his ancient woodland in Whaley Bridge, or taking part in expeditions across the globe, which in the past have included West Africa, Borneo and Central America.
