SDS Wins New Civil Engineer Award
SDS has won its first national NCE Award in the category of ‘Impact in Water & Environment – Contractor.’
This major industry recognition reflects the company’s progress in delivering innovative, sustainable water management solutions that address critical environmental challenges, including both water scarcity and flooding, and provide resilience to climate change and population growth.
The judges praised SDS smart rainwater harvesting and recycling systems for their simplicity, scalability and innovation, noting the company’s integrated approach to water management and its efforts to drive a societal and cultural shift towards sustainability. They also highlighted SDS’s commitment to education and research — through work in schools and universities — as a key strength, creating a lasting legacy of awareness and change.
In summing up, NCE said: "The judges appreciated that the solution could be applied at a variety of scales and noted that the team has set a strong benchmark in sustainability standards... despite the small size of the business, the judges felt this team are sector leaders."
On collecting the Award at a packed gala event in London, SDS Sales & Marketing Director Richard Averley and Dr Neil Sewell, Director of New Technology Services, said: “We are delighted to win the ‘Impact in Water and Environment’ category at the New Civil Engineer Awards! SDS is committed to shaping a smarter, more sustainable water future — delivering practical solutions that not only address urgent environmental needs but also help inspire a wider movement for change. This is a fantastic achievement for the entire SDS team, helping to put water security at the forefront of people's minds.”
At the heart of this achievement are SDS “Intellistorm®” and “SYMBiotIC™” smart technologies, which harness live weather data and Internet of Things to optimise rainwater collection, attenuation and reuse. These systems are already making a measurable difference at hundreds of projects around the UK — helping to counter increasing flood risk, protect declining natural water supplies, and deliver sustainable outcomes for communities and businesses.
This latest win follows the company’s recent shortlisting for the edie “Product Innovation of the Year” Award — further validation of the value, performance and significant market potential of SDS intelligent water management technologies. SDS was also a Finalist earlier this year in two categories of the Showhome Awards: “Innovation of the Year” and “Sustainable Product of the Year”, and was shortlisted for “Smart Product of the Year”, cementing its position as a leader in forward-thinking water management solutions.
