The Water UK “A Leakage Routemap to 2050” was a watershed moment for the leakage sector, highlighting the work that has been done over the last 30 years since privatisation as well as setting out methods for achieving the difficult tasks of the next 30 years. These challenges including achieving the Public Interest Commitment, the National Infrastructures Commission’s 50% reduction target as well as any targets that are set in Environmental Act post the recent consultation.
The Routemap highlighted 9 commitments that the industry had agreed need to be worked on, to assist in achieving the Routemap goals.
Following a number of meetings with the Water UK PIC Steering Group, the Water Leakage Network and wider industry the way to achieve these commitments has been agreed, this has been a mixture of third-party group projects run by consultants, using the outputs of UKWIR and Ofwat innovation fund projects that were already in flight and a number of action groups around themed workstreams to achieve the remainder of the commitments.
The workstream workshop will be taking place in November and December 2022, and the organiser on behalf of Water UK would like to invite all interested organisations to participate in the workshops, to assist in finding areas of great practice as well as places where more work is required. The attached information sheet provides more details about the workstreams and the workshop process.
