Water Industry Forum Announces Innovation Award Winners

Following several postponements due to Covid, the Water Industry Forum (WIF) was finally able to celebrate its 10th Anniversary at a dinner in Leeds earlier this month at which the winners of WIF’s 10th Anniversary Innovation Awards were announced. The awards recognised the exceptional innovations implemented and developed by WIF members over the last decade for the benefit of the UK water sector.
The overall winner was Northumbrian Water Group with ‘National Underground Asset Register (NUAR)’. Angela MacOscar (Head of Innovation) and Clive Surman-Wells (Innovation Partnerships Manager) were presented with the award by Nevil Muncaster (Strategic Resources Director at Thames Water). The winners of each of the three individual categories were: Customer Impact Category Yorkshire Water and R2M Ltd with ‘Battery-powered, mobile network-connected valve actuators’. Environmental Impact Category United Utilities with ‘Catchment Systems Thinking: Catchment Flexible Permitting in the Petteril Catchment’ Societal Impact Category Northumbrian Water Group with ‘National Underground Asset Register (NUAR)’ ‘The dinner and awards mark the end of an amazing decade for the Forum’ said WIF Executive Director Peter Drake. ‘Following our recently announced merger, we now look forward to building on what we have achieved to date and expanding our activities as an independent subsidiary of British Water’. 
The Overall Winner Award being presented to Angela MacOscar and Clive Surman-Wells from Northumbrian Water Group by Nevil Muncaster (Strategic Resources Director, Thames Water). 
The Customer Impact Award being presented to Ryan Clayton from Yorkshire Water by Nevil Muncaster (Strategic Resources Director, Thames Water). 
The Environmental Impact Award being presented to Jim Airton from United Utilities by Nevil Muncaster (Strategic Resources Director, Thames Water).
