Water Treatment in the Home

Home > water treatment > Water Treatment in the Home

Despite the high quality of mains water in the UK, many households choose to treat their domestic water, using point-of-use (POU) and/or point-of-entry (POE) equipment such as

  • water softeners
  • filters
  • scale reducers/physical conditioners

If you have a private water supply (borehole, well, spring) it is important that the water quality is regularly checked and any problems identified, treated, to ensure a continuing safe quality of supply.

British Water member companies can provide technical guidance and the appropriate equipment to assist consumers with all aspects of water treatment.

A list of Fact Sheets provides information for consumers on various aspects of water treatment in the home.
