SOUTH AFRICA: ACID MINE DRAINAGE ROUND-TABLE FOR BRITISH WATER MEMBERS
& NON MEMBERS
FRIDAY 29 JULY 2011

  •     Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) is a serious problem in areas of South Africa
  •     Could you help offer solutions?
  •     Come and find out how your company could get involved in future AMD projects

UKTI’s new 5 year strategy includes a focus on tracking projects worth over £50 million - ‘High Value Opportunities (HVO)’ - for UK companies.

Come and learn about one of these opportunties - Acid Mine Drainage - and evaluate whether your company could help offer solutions.

South Africa’s mining operations have played an integral role in the country’s economic development.
Rising water levels in old and abandoned mines are however causing signifi cant ecological problems as contaminated acidic water (Acid Mine Drainage) fl ows outwards into the natural water table, aquifers and even river systems, impacting humans, livestock and wildlife. The South African government has created an InterMinsterial Committee (IMC) with the National Planning Commission to address this problem and this round-table has been organised to help put together a group of UK experts who can help.

Don’t miss this chance to get involved! Click here for the flyer or register now:
